PCs and NDP Risk Oblivion, Huge Majority for the Liberals Remains a Possibility, But Liberals Shows Early Signs of Some Fading

Right after the writ was dropped, all the opposition parties joined in unison to blast the government Liberals for calling a needless election. But, only the Bloc and Alliance seem destined to benefit from public disaffection. Without a dramatic change of fortune in coming weeks, the federal PCs face the distinct possibility of re-electing at most a handful of members, principally a few well liked Maritime notables like Elsie Wayne. A complete shut-out cannot be ruled out, as evidenced in tables 1 and 2.
