Tight Harper-Day Race among Alliance

  Voters but Harper Heartily Embraced by Tories

Despite his near absence from the national media in the years since he decided not to run for re-election to the House of Commons, Stephen Harper is the run-away favourite of Canadians to lead the Alliance party, according to a National Post/COMPAS poll of 785 Canadians. Asked to choose between Harper and incumbent leader Stockwell Day, Canadians select the former MP by a margin of almost 3:1, as shown in the table below.
