By an immense margin, CEOs and other business leaders in the Financial Post/COMPAS poll sponsored by CIBC and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce believe that the Bank of Canada was on the right track to lower rates by 60 basis points. An extraordinary 75% feel this way. Only 11% thought that the reduction was excessive while 9% thought it insufficient, as shown in table 1 below.
