Business leaders believe that any hollowing out of Canadian corporate life would almost certainly be damaging to Canada. They are not persuaded by most of the arguments favouring equanimity on the issue of foreign takeovers of Canadian companies. But they are not convinced that foreign takeovers in Canada are proceeding at a rate that is more rapid than the expansions and acquisitions of Canadian companies operating in foreign markets These are the key findings from the current web-survey of CEOs and other business leaders conducted by COMPAS on behalf of the National Post under sponsorship of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and CIBC.
