Business leaders as a whole believe that the economy is functioning well. They are bullish about the 2-3 year future of the economy, their sector, and especially their own organization.
Respondents are split down the middle about whether Finance Minister Martin’s departure from cabinet will affect the economy. But they are not split in their assessments of his performance. They are especially pleased with his contribution to debt paydown while also pleased with his role in lowering taxes. For his part, Manley is expected to perform satisfactorily, albeit at an appreciably lower level of performance than Martin.
These are the key findings from the current web-survey of CEOs and other business leaders conducted by COMPAS on behalf of the National Post under sponsorship of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and CIBC.
