All in all, the Ontario provincial government receives a grade of 61% for its new budget, indicating that Canadian business leaders feel the recent changes are satisfactory. The government’s mediocre scoring among respondents appears to be a result of just-passing grades regarding its understanding of budgetary sectors.

As a result of the replacement of Mike Harris with Ernie Eves as Premier, there is a consensus among respondents that recent budgetary revisions are a reflection of the fundamental change in ideology. There is however a disagreement as to whether or not the new Ontario budget is supportive of economic growth.

These are the key findings from the current web-survey of CEOs and other business leaders conducted by COMPAS on behalf of the National Post under sponsorship of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and CIBC.
