Money and Faith: Plummeting Confidence in Stock Markets, Especially Among Demographic Groups with Disposable Assets

A nation-wide Ottawa Citizen/COMPAS survey reveals that Canadians have lost so much confidence in the markets that it is almost impossible for them to lose much more. As shown in table 1, the proportion with less faith in the stock market than in the past is 62% today, up from 54% in January. It is especially noteworthy that the number of respondents who have “a lot less” faith in the stock markets has jumped from 19% to 32%.
