MBAs and General Master’s Tied for Performance: General Master’s Outperform MBAs in Hard Work, Sectoral Knowledge, and Communications Ability

Canada’s CEOs and business leaders think that an MBA education is neither more valuable nor less valuable than other types of non-business graduate degrees. MBA graduates’ strengths are thought to lie in information technology and e-business, whereas non-business Master’s graduates are thought to excel in their commitment to hard work, sector knowledge, and ability to communicate.

The survey also asked some questions about the employment settings for which MBA graduates are best prepared for. Business leaders tend to see MBAs as best trained for FP100 settings and not well prepared to launch their own businesses.

These are the key findings from the current web-survey of CEOs and other business leaders conducted by COMPAS on behalf of the National Post under sponsorship of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and CIBC Small Business.
