President Bush’s proposal to abolish “double taxation” on U.S. dividends earns a strong endorsement from Canada’s CEOs and business leaders. A strong majority anticipates that this policy would stimulate U.S. economic growth. An even larger majority believe that Canada should follow suit. While strongly supportive of tax changes to benefit the economy, respondents in this week’s business web-poll are not so sure that it is a good idea for corporations to transform themselves into trusts for purposes of tax avoidance. These are the key findings from the web-survey of CEOs and other business leaders conducted by COMPAS on behalf of the National Post under sponsorship of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. |
