Recent provincial elections and the forthcoming Federal Leadership race in the context of a slowing economy have brought to the fore the discussion of tax levels and government spending. While some politicians may disagree, business leaders are almost unanimous in their opposition to increases in Federal or Provincial personal or corporate taxes. In fact, business leaders would like to see tax cuts across the board and Provincial Governments spending less on social programs, with the Federal Government decreasing funding for arts, culture and the CBC, foreign aid and social pending.
