Chamber Weekly CEO/Business Leader Poll by COMPAS in the Financial Post

This week’s survey of business leaders explored different issues relating to IT policy and practices. Business leaders strongly favour companies having policies for staff e-mail and internet use; identifying the most important reason being to protect the organization from unauthorized access to confidential information.

However, a noteworthy number of respondents say their own organizations do not have such policies or the policies are unclear. In fact, a sizeable minority of respondents say that their companies do not monitor staff internet use and the majority say that their companies do not monitor e-mail use.

In terms on spending on IT, respondents in this business leader panel are cautiously optimistic about business spending trends on IT next year.

Those are the principal conclusions to be drawn from this past week’s FP/COMPAS web poll of CEO’s and business leaders under the sponsorship of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
