The vigorous assault on unauthorized copying and piracy by the music industry through its efforts in the legal arena and TV advertising have prompted discussions among business people about other kinds of misappropriation as well.

The global infringement of music, software, and other copyrights is seen as a very serious problem. Not far behind are other concerns as well—the theft of the intellectual property of Canadian firms marketing their services abroad, followed by employees’ theft of the intellectual property of their employers, and large corporations’ theft and abuse of the property of their small suppliers.
