Amid media reports that the IT industry is recovering and some predicting a return to the type of IT spending seen during the boom, Canada’s business leaders predict IT spending to increase somewhat, but not return to previous levels. With respect to their IT staff, business leaders value their internal or external IT departments and notable also place much importance on having non-IT staff with some IT skills.

Reflecting on the most and least valuable technological innovations, respondents favour e-mail as the innovation that has helped business most and tele/video- conferencing as the innovation that has helped business least.

These are the key findings from this week’s web-survey of CEOs and business leaders, performed under the sponsorship of BDO Dunwoody and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce for publication in the Financial Post.
