Canada’s business leaders give failing grades to the Federal Government for its performance on the Sikorsky helicopter contract. Specifically, respondents view the decision as unfair and are concerned that the Federal Government chose one supplier but did not tell the public that the only other potential supplier was previously disqualified from the competition. The panel strongly agrees that the decision seems improper and political, as the bidder as the disqualified bidder had already been pre-qualified, had won the 1998 competition, and had won the original Sea King contract cancelled by Jean Chrétien.

These are the key findings from this week’s COMPAS/Financial Post business leader survey conducted under sponsorship of BDO Dunwoody and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
