In honour of Valentine’s Day, the National Post commissioned COMPAS to conduct a national survey to explore:

  • to whom Valentine’s Day appeals the most,
  • the attributes of an ideal spouse,
  • the differing perceptions of the ideal spouse among men and women, the unmarried, married, and formerly married,
  • the roles of infidelity, money, health, and violence in divorce,
  • the incidence of infidelity in today’s marriages,
  • the likely impact on marriage stability of infidelity discovered,
  • perceptions of Society’s attitudes towards infidelity, and
  • differences in values, behaviour, and forgiveness among the devout and the unobservant.
