COMPAS Poll/Survey
|
|||||||||||||
The COMPAS business panel endorses Angela Merkel’s position on bondholder responsibility. The overwhelming majority agrees that Merkel is right that putting bondholders’ money at risk is the best way of encouraging bondholders to pressure weak governments into becoming self-disciplined and avoiding recurrent crises. CEOs and business leaders on the panel support an IMF bailout of Ireland, as they did previously of Greece, but less strongly. Panelists are divided about whether Ireland will recover, are inclined to expect Spain to become a problem, and think that there is a possibility that Germany may withdraw from the Eurozone. These are the key findings from this past week’s Internet survey of CEOs and business leaders on the COMPAS panel. The weekly business survey is undertaken for Canadian Business magazine under sponsorship of BDO. |
