The Competition Bureau's attacks on the business practices of Visa and MasterCard are receiving resounding approval among the CEOs and business leaders on the COMPAS business panel. Panelists back the Competition Bureau on each one of its criticisms by large majorities, as shown in table 2.1.

Asked if the "Competition Bureau is treating Visa and MasterCard unfairly, because they too need to cover the cost of doing business," most panelists demur (62% disagree that the Bureau is being unduly harsh while 17% agree with the criticism of the Bureau), as shown in table 2.2.

These are the key findings from this past week's Internet survey of CEOs and business leaders on the COMPAS panel. The weekly business survey is undertaken for Canadian Business magazine.
