Workplace Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, and the Clitheroe-Martha Business Stories: Even Male and Female Business Leaders Seem to Be from Different Planets
CIBC/Chamber Weekly CEO/Business Leader Poll by COMPAS in the Financial Post |

|
Canadian CEOs and business leaders were asked to gauge and explain gender discrimination in the workplace, gauge sexual harassment in the workplace, and assess coverage of the Clitheroe and Martha Stewart stories. On all three issues, men and women expressed very different attitudes, proving that men and women may really come from different planets in the solar system.
Women are more likely to feel that their position in the workplace is a product of gender discrimination. They also believe that there continues to be a double standard as to what does and does not make for appropriate behaviour in the office. Continuing along the same pattern, male and female respondents do not see eye-to-eye on the justification for the proportion of media coverage of the allegations facing high profile female CEOs such as Eleanor Clitheroe and Martha Stewart. These are the key findings from the current web-survey of CEOs and other business leaders conducted by COMPAS on behalf of the National Post under sponsorship of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and CIBC Small Business. |
