CRTC Decisions: Resounding Support for Admitting Fox News,
Divided Business Opinion on the Quebec City and Al Jazeera Decisions
BDO Dunwoody/Chamber Weekly CEO/Business Leader Poll by COMPAS in the Financial Post |

Following controversial CRTC decisions to cancel a Quebec City radio license and conditionally admit Qatar-based broadcaster Al Jazeera, the business panel was asked for its views on these two decisions as well as on the issue of the non-admission of Fox News to Canada.
The panel is essentially unanimous in its support for admission of Fox News while sharply divided on the Quebec City and Al Jazeera decisions. Business leaders’ views of these broadcasting issues emerge in a climate of economic opinion favouring tax cuts and debt reduction. By a large margin, panel members feel that their own executive team would outperform the members of the present Martin cabinet if entrusted with responsibility for the federal government. These are the key findings from this week’s COMPAS/Financial Post business leader survey conducted under sponsorship of BDO Dunwoody and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. |
