2004 Alberta Election: Klein Ever Popular, NDP Rises at Expense of Liberals
A COMPAS Report for the Calgary Herald

COMPAS Survey Finds Klein Support Steady Since 2001

Premier Ralph Klein stands to win an even greater landslide than in the 2001 election. At 61% of the popular vote, support for the provincial Conservatives would remain as high as in 2001 while a more equally divided opposition would increase the possibility of a romp among seats.

According to a province wide survey of 500 Albertans conducted for The Calgary Herald by COMPAS Research November 3rd and 4th, 2004, the Liberals led by Kevin Taft have 19% of the vote, down from 27% in 2001. The NDP led by Brian Mason appear to be benefiting from the Liberal drop with 16% of voters saying they would chose the NDP, as opposed to 8% who actually voted for the NDP in the last election.

Surveys of this size (n=500) are deemed accurate to within 4.5 percentage points 19 times out of 20.
